The MoFonics will be performing at Sound Check 2006, a fundraising concert at The Independent, 628 Divisadero Street in San Francisco on Sunday, October 22, 2006. The MoFonics are the official rock band of Morrison & Foerster. The band members performing at this event are Doug Hendricks, Paul Flum, Margaret Wu, Bill Veatch, Ruth Borenstein, James Schurz and Bradley Brownlow. The Independent is one of San Francisco's most storied music venues. In addition to the MoFonics, the program will feature Blind Justice & David Miller Trio (Hanson Bridgett), Polkanomics (Lieff Cabraser), Ruby Chevrolet (Lockton Insurance Brokers) and others.
Leadership San Francisco (LSF) is sponsoring Sound Check 2006, a benefit concert designed to bring attention and funding to worthy Bay Area organizations or activities. The inaugural nonprofit partner is the Women's Reentry Center, a facility that will provide transition services to women released from San Francisco jail. Rather than just coldly turning out onto the streets a population of women who have typically endured poverty, abuse and lack of education, when completed at 850 Bryant the Women's Reentry center will provide them with vocational and soft-skill training, childcare, counseling services and a host of other services that will give them a fighting chance to stay out of lock-up for the rest of their lives. In addition patrons of the event may win door prizes and will have the opportunity to bid on great silent-auction bid items.
