Rita Lin is a speaker at the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the California State Bar’s Lunchtime Lecture. Ms. Lin describes the recent activity targeting banks that process payments for online short-term lenders, including questions from the New York Department of Financial Services, subpoenas from the Department of Justice, and private class action lawsuits. The session will also discuss some of the jurisdictional and sovereignty issues raised by the fact that some lenders are owned and operated by Indian tribes.
