Social media is reinventing the way companies, across all industries, interact with customers, promote products, and gather information about consumers through analytics and social networking. As consumers become more aware of the privacy risks involved in sharing their personal data online, the media spotlight in now directed toward social media marketing. Companies have to balance the commercial realities of social media marketing with the risks posed by compliance with laws and regulations.
Social media also create new issues in the employment context and we have seen a number of cases in court relating to employers exploring social media pages of employees, or the use of social media profiles in the employment application process.
In this webinar, we will look at the laws and regulations in the U.S. and Europe relating to consumer-facing issues that arise from the use of social media in advertising and marketing. We will also address the challenges that employers and employees face resulting from the use of social media in the workplace and in the recruitment process.
