Join MoFo during 1776’s Challenge Festival event, which brings together 100+ groups around Washington, DC to highlight the inspiring ideas and people from around the world. Events focus on transformative solutions to global challenges by driving innovation through startups in government, foundations, corporations, and more.

MoFo will lead a panel, followed by Q&A, to walk through important legal aspects of forming and running an emerging technology company. The event will feature a panel discussion with seasoned entrepreneurs. Topics covered by the panel will include: choice of legal entity (business and tax considerations), equity issuances, protecting intellectual property, limiting personal liability, and raising funds from angel investors and VCs. Our panel will supplement the legal discussion — the “law” — with war stories and lessons learned — the “lore” — from the panelists’ years of experience building companies and raising money.
