Today, the FDIC is scheduled to approve a proposed regulation to implement the Volcker Rule, and the SEC is expected to do so as well tomorrow. A draft of the proposal already has circulated publicly and can be accessed here.

The proposed rule would impose several new requirements on market participants. In our Thursday session, we will review these obligations and the consequences for particular trading and fund activities.

Topics include:

  • Proprietary trading
    • Derivatives
    • Debt markets
    • Securitizations and other structured finance structures
    • Hedging
  • Private equity and hedge funds
    • Sponsored funds
  • Foreign bank activities
