1 Year Later: What We've Learned About Aereo

Alex Lawrence spoke to Law360 about the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in American Broadcasting Cos., Inc. v. Aereo, Inc. that declared Aereo’s unauthorized streaming television service illegal.

“The [Dish Network’s Hopper DVR] case will surely influence how courts interpret Aereo in the future,” Alex said. “Judge Gee suggested that the decision should be largely limited to its own or closely analogous facts. Under this narrow reading of Aereo, the case has limited application to services that do not look like cable companies.”
