MoFo Advises SoftBank on Investment into SoFi

Morrison & Foerster is advising SoftBank Group as an investor in finance company SoFi’s $500 million Series F financing led by tech investor Silver Lake. GPI Capital is also an investor in SoFi’s fundraising.

Japan-based SoftBank is a multinational telecommunication and Internet corporation, and longtime MoFo client. MoFo has advised SoftBank on a series of recent deals, including SoftBank’s $31.4 billion acquisition of British chip designer ARM Holdings and its sale of its controlling stake in Finnish gaming company Supercell Oy to Chinese Internet company Tencent Holdings at a value of $8.6 billion.

San Francisco Corporate partner Susan Mac Cormac is leading the MoFo team, which also includes antitrust partner Jeff Jaeckel, regulatory partner Don Lampe, Corporate associates Alex St. John and Ben Fox, and litigation associate Kerry Jones.
