Changes to the securities landscape loom on the horizon. Vows to roll back Dodd-Frank, alongside an overhaul of the top decision makers at the Securities and Exchange Commission, may be the harbingers of a new era of reduced regulation.

At this formative stage, however, the trajectory of securities regulation and enforcement under the Trump administration has yet to be determined. As the president’s agenda and appointments take shape, practitioners are observing closely, and proceeding cautiously.
