James M. Koukios was quoted in the Associated Press article “Trump Asserts Comey Told Him He’s Not Under Investigation,” saying it would be unusual for ousted FBI director James Comey to tell President Trump he was not under investigation as stated in the president’s termination letter.
“Defense attorneys always ask, ‘Is my client a target, subject or witness?’ There's no obligation to answer, but I guess it’s possible they could have had the conversation. We’re in uncharted territory in a lot of ways,” he said.
