Zaidi, senior advisor on climate, energy, and environmental policy, technology, and markets, believes President Trump’s proposed budget cuts to the EPA will face significant resistance in Congress. “This budget is going to face a great deal of [congressional] friction, or it’s just going to slide [ignored] right off the desks of the appropriations committees,” he said in the Law360 article “Trump Energy, Enviro Cuts Will Raise Eyebrows In Congress.”
He continued, “On the one hand, you’re seeing the administration making the arguments about federalism and encouraging state development and enforcement of environmental policy, and on the other hand, they’re underfunding the programs the states need. There will be pushback there.”
