Daily Journal Names Three Morrison & Foerster Partners Top Women Lawyers in California

05 Jun 2017

San Francisco partner Susan Mac Cormac and Palo Alto partner Sara Terheggen have been named to The Daily Journal's 2017 Top Women Lawyers in California list. Our new IP litigation partner, Stefani Shanberg, was also named to the list. This is Suz's fourth year and Stefani's fifth year to receive the honor.

Susan is currently co-chair of the Energy and Clean Technology Groups and serves as the chair of the Social Enterprise and Impact Investing Group. She was recognized for her work advising nonprofit and for-profit "hybrid" corporate structures and high-profile mergers or acquisitions on sustainability issues.

Her accomplishments include advising Medicines360, the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company to spin off from a for-profit company to develop a hybrid corporate structure and representing Imprint Capital Advisors LLC, one of the first impact investing firms acquired by a major Wall Street firm.

Sara was featured for her impressive track record - advising on deals that collectively total more than $100 billion.

She was part of the team who advised Cherokee Global Brands in its complex acquisition of Hi-Tec Sports International Holdings BV. She also helped companies, including Elevate Credit Inc. and Fulgent Genetics Inc., transition from privately held to publicly traded.

"My favorite part of my practice is building relationships with clients," says Sara. "The relationships and the ability to serve as a strategic outside adviser are the best parts of my job."

Stefani serves as the first West Coast president of the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association. She is recognized for her work as lead trial counsel in a U.S. International Trade Commission investigation successfully resolved using the ITC's 100-day program to issue an early determination on patent-eligible matter. At the time, the 100-day program had only been used twice before, and this was the first time it was used for a substantive issue of patent law.

Full profiles of Susan, Sara, and Stefani are featured in a special Top Women Lawyers issue that was published on May 24.
