Pruitt to Tap Private Sector to Hasten Superfund Cleanups

Morrison & Foerster partner Peter Hsiao believes that the recommendations by the EPA task force to accelerate the cleanup of contaminated sites on the National Priorities List are “consistent with this administration’s goals to engage the private sector, and thereby shift some of the cost and burden away from the federal government,” but provide a financial risk to third parties who offer to assist with the cleanup funding.

“The problem is going to be finding somebody who wants the liability,” Hsiao said in the Bloomberg BNA article “Pruitt to Tap Private Sector to Hasten Superfund Cleanups.”
