Timothy Blakely, head of Morrison & Foerster’s Hong Kong Litigation Department, was quoted in the article “China signs Convention on Choice of Court Agreements” published by GC Agenda China on October 27, 2017. Mr. Blakely commented on China's signing of the Convention, adding that “Once the convention is ratified, however, its effectiveness in practice may depend on implementation. For example, how broadly will China's courts apply the convention's public policy exception to the obligation to enforce foreign judgments, and will China adopt supportive procedures such as the need for higher court approval if a lower court denies enforcement of a foreign judgment under the convention?"
