MoFo Participates in Pilot Mansfield Rule Initiative

Morrison & Foerster LLP is proud to announce it will join 44 leading law firms in piloting the Mansfield Rule initiative in an effort to increase diversity in our leadership ranks. The Mansfield Rule measures whether firms have considered a diverse pool of candidates, at least 30 percent women and attorneys of color, for leadership and governance roles and promotions.

Upon successful completion of the pilot program, law firms will be “Mansfield Certified” and will have the opportunity to send diverse partners to a client forum in 2018.

The initiative was inspired by the NFL's Rooney Rule; a rule which requires every NFL team to interview at least one minority candidate for head coach positions. Named after Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to practice law in the United States, the initiative was one of the winning ideas of the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon.
