The ruling in the dispute between Enigma and Malwarebytes is unsurprising according to partner Andrew B. Serwin in the Dark Reading article “AV Vendors Have Immunity for Malware-Blocking Decisions, Court Says.” However, that protection might not always be available to third parties who use a malware signature or other information for filtering decisions.

“This is not a situation where if there is a wrong, there is no remedy,” he said. “It is just against whom that remedy is available.”
