MoFo Advises on Sale of Venture-Backed Med Device Company

06 Apr 2018

We represented our long-standing client, Astute Medical, in its sale for $90 million to bioMérieux, a publicly traded diagnostic company, in a cross-border transaction that signed and closed on April 4, 2018. Astute Medical is focused on improving the diagnosis of high-risk medical conditions and diseases through the use of protein biomarkers. The Company's first FDA-cleared product allows for early risk assessment of acute kidney injuries - a common, costly and potentially fatal threat to many hospitalized patients.

The MoFo team was led by San Diego corporate partner Jay de Groot and corporate associate Jim Krenn with support from San Diego corporate associates Shai Kalansky and Kevin McKenna, San Francisco financial transactions partner Jeff Kayes and associate Mustafa Rizvi, Denver tax associate Joe Tucci, San Francisco employment partner Lloyd Aubry and Palo Alto associate Nicole Elemen, San Francisco benefits of counsel Amanda Hines Gold, San Francisco technology transactions associates Allison Lauterbach Dale and Hywote Taye, Palo Alto privacy partner Christine Lyon and New York associate Melissa Crespo, and DC antitrust of counsel Aki Bayz.
