Morrison & Foerster’s J. Thomas McCarthy Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

World Trademark Review presented San Francisco litigation of counsel J. Thomas McCarthy with its Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 2018 WTR Industry Awards. 

In his profile, published in a special feature edition, Tom was recognized for his over 50 years of work in the field of trademarks and unfair competition. He is a founding director of the McCarthy Institute of Intellectual Property and Technology Law and is the author of Trademarks and Unfair Competition, a seven-volume treatise that has been in print for over 45 years and has been cited in over 5,000 judicial decisions.

The WTR Industry Awards recognizes teams and individuals that are performing “to the highest possible standards.” Winners are selected based on a range of criteria, including enforcement of trademarks in the relevant jurisdiction or field of industry; successful portfolio exploitation; industry/regional expertise; and quality of in-house processes.
