South Korea, Singapore Talks With EU Could Boost Online Commerce

The proposed adequacy agreement between the European Union and Japan, which would allow companies to transfer citizen’s data with limited restrictions, could pave the way for other countries to do the same, according to Morrison & Foerster partner Alex van der Wolk in the Bloomberg BNA article “South Korea, Singapore Talks With EU Could Boost Online Commerce.” 

Negotiations on data transfers with the EU, however, can take several years for some countries as it “plays a hard bargain” according to Mr. van der Wolk.
