Singapore deal activity flourished in 2018 thanks in part to political forces and increased interest in the region, according to Morrison & Foerster partner Shirin Tang in the Asian Legal Business article, “State of the Market.”

“Southeast Asia is enjoying a boost in foreign investment, particularly in consumer products, industrial, TMT and chemicals,” she said. “We expect this trend to continue in part because of the U.S.-China trade war which encourages companies to shift production from China to the region to avoid certain tariffs. We are seeing a lot of companies either investing in the region for the first time or expanding their existing operations.”
