Andrew Serwin, partner in Morrison & Foerster’s market-leading Privacy + Data Security Group, has been selected for the Daily Journal’s list of Top Cyber Lawyers in California. On January 23, 2019 the Daily Journal released a special edition of the editorial featuring Andrew’s outstanding accomplishments and cutting edge work in cybersecurity.

Known as one of the best privacy and data security practitioners in the field, Andrew has been at the helm of numerous data security breach cases resulting in historic enforcement actions by the Federal Trade Commission and Office of Civil Rights. The Daily Journal selected Andrew as one of the Top Cyber Lawyers in the state for his recent work on the Schrems case and on behalf of MINDBODY and Southern California Edison.

Andrew is often at the forefront of the national discussion on cybersecurity issues and compliance, serving on a number of boards including The National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance and Securing Our eCity Foundation. He is also an advisor to the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Asymmetric Warfare and is the CEO and Executive Director of the Lares Institute, a think-tank focused on privacy, information superiority, and national security issues.

In addition to his legal practice, Andrew is a highly accomplished speaker and author. His treatises — Information Security and Privacy: A Guide to Federal and State Law and Compliance and Information Security and Privacy: A Guide to International Law and Compliance — have been called “indispensable resources for privacy professionals at all levels.” He was also recently invited to present a webinar on the California Consumer Privacy Act for the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
