A Morrison & Foerster team advised Naval Group (formerly DCNS), a major French company and European leader in naval defense, for the Australian Future Submarine Program. This program of 12 submarines of the Attack Class represents an investment of approximately $50 billion for the Royal Australian Navy, one of the largest defense budgets ever allocated by the Commonwealth of Australia.
The Morrison & Foerster team worked collaboratively with Naval Group’s French (Gide) and Australian (Allens) legal counsel on this critical project. The Morrison & Foerster team provided legal advice related to U.S law, including U.S. contracting practices in the defense sector, export control requirements, and intellectual property issues. Leading the matter for Morrison & Foerster was a Washington, D.C.-based team of partners headed by Kevin Mullen and David Churchill. Other firm attorneys involved in this matter include partner Jay DeVecchio, and of counsels Aki Bayz and Charles Capito.
