Morrison & Foerster announced today that the firm has been shortlisted for six Deal Awards and one Individual Award in ALM’s Asia Legal Awards 2019. The firm was nominated for excellence in legal services in the following five deal categories:
- Deal Awards, M&A Deal of the Year: North Asia (sale of Toshiba Memory Corp.)
- M&A Deal of the Year: Southeast Asia (Grab’s acquisition of Uber’s Southeast Asia business)
- Private Equity Deal of the Year (Ant Financial's Series C financing)
- Energy and Infrastructure Project of the Year (DT Energy’s acquisition of solar power projects)
- TMT Deal of the Year (Alibaba’s acquisition of Ele.me; and Grab’s acquisition of Uber’s Southeast Asia business)
Additionally, Marcia Ellis, co-head of Morrison & Foerster’s Asia Private Equity practice and a member of the firm’s global board of directors, was shortlisted in the Individual Awards category for M&A Lawyer of the Year. Ms. Ellis is one of the most experienced M&A lawyers active in the Asian market, having practiced in Asia for 22 years. Ms. Ellis’s practice focuses on M&A and private equity transactions across Asia and beyond. In the past 12 months alone, she has advised clients on deals the aggregate value of which is well in excess of US$75 billion.
