Morrison & Foerster partner John P. Carlin discussed Michael Cohen’s testimony in Congress, the Mueller investigation, and the prospect of impeachment for President Trump. Mr. Carlin is the chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global Risk & Crisis Management Group.
In commenting on the Wednesday, February 27, 2019 testimony of President Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, Mr. Carlin remarked that: “There’s conduct that’s alleged here that’s outside of the scope of the special counsel’s mandate. So we heard recounting that, if true, would constitute bank fraud, wire fraud, tax evasion, and possible other crimes. And so, if there’s no other criminal remedy for them, the only airing under our political system is transparency through Congress and ultimately whether or not congress wants to act.”
