Morrison & Foerster partner John Carlin, the former Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s National Security Division, recently appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes. John spoke to 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl for a report on “The Growing Partnership Between Russia’s Government and Cybercriminals.” He provided analysis as to why Russian intelligence agencies are piggybacking off the cybercriminal enterprise and recalled the exploits of Russian hacker, Evgeniy Bogachev — one of the FBI's most wanted cybercriminals today.

60 Minutes also published a related online feature piece using John as the sole spokesperson headlined “Assessing the Threats in the New Code War.” John discussed how a new war is taking place online, telling Ms. Stahl that “We're in a new world, and just like the Cold War, it may not be a hot theater of combat. But day in, day out, we're under attack.”
