Morrison & Foerster is advising VMware on its acquisition of BitRock, Inc. (doing business as Bitnami), a leader in application packaging solutions. Bitnami provides the largest catalog of click-to-deploy applications and development stacks for major cloud and Kubernetes environments.
With Bitnami, VMware customers will be able to easily deploy application packages on any cloud—public or hybrid—and in the most optimal format. Additionally, the acquisition will allow VMware to augment its existing efforts to deliver a curated marketplace that offers a rich set of applications and development environments, as well as infrastructure software.
The MoFo deal team is led by Palo Alto corporate partner Mike Krigbaum, together with San Francisco corporate partner Brandon Parris, and includes Palo Alto associate Jim Ryan.
