Morrison & Foerster Names Corporate Partner Shirin Tang Managing Partner of Its Singapore Office
SINGAPORE – (May 29, 2019) – Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, has named Shirin Tang, a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, Managing Partner of its Singapore office, effective June 1, 2019. Ms. Tang, who has been a partner at Morrison & Foerster for five years, succeeds Eric Piesner and Paul McKenzie who were Co-Managing Partners of the Singapore office. Mr. Piesner, who founded the Singapore office in 2013, will continue to serve as the firm’s Asia Managing Partner. Mr. McKenzie will continue to be Managing Partner of the firm’s Beijing and Shanghai offices.
Ms. Tang specializes in private equity and M&A transactions, with a particular focus in the technology and real estate sectors and in counseling clients in Asia on public and private company investments in the U.S. In the last three years, Ms. Tang has led transactions with deal values in excess of US$29 billion in the aggregate, including multiple award-winning deals.
Ms. Tang also serves on Morrison & Foerster’s Women’s Strategy Committee, highlighting her commitment to advancing women in the legal profession. Ms. Tang joins numerous other women at Morrison & Foerster holding a leadership position. For example, women chair or co-chair approximately 20 of the firm’s practice groups, and 40% of the members of the firm’s Board of Directors are women.

Ms. Tang received her LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and her LL.M. from Harvard Law School. Asian Legal Business named Ms. Tang Woman Lawyer of the Year in its 2018 Southeast Asia Law Awards and one of the “40 Under 40” most outstanding private practice lawyers and in-house counsel in Asia in 2017. Ms. Tang was also named by Chambers Asia-Pacific 2019 as a leader in her field and is listed in Asia Business Law Journal’s 2019 A List for Singapore, IFLR’s 2019 Guide to the World’s Leading Law Firms, and the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific for 2019.
