EU Opinion Highlights Uncertainty Around Data Transfer Pact

In an article for Bloomberg Law, Alex van der Wolk discussed data transfer mechanisms for companies that move data from the EU to the U.S. under the bilateral Privacy Shield.

Alex said that the Court of Justice for the EU has the power to invalidate data transfer mechanisms and has used it in the past. Companies should “evaluate what the best options are, and keep a close eye on the developments in the data transfer space,” Alex advised.
