Bob Litt spoke to The Atlantic about the appointment of a new acting director of national intelligence, and how someone in this position holds the power to interfere with the intelligence community’s work to combat and monitor Russia’s efforts to meddle with the 2020 presidential election.
“The director of national intelligence is responsible for setting priorities for intelligence collection, and if you’re not looking for something, you’re not going to find it,” Bob said. “The DNI could deprioritize looking for information and direct intelligence assets away from that.”
