Waiving Coronavirus Research Liability Driven by Lost HIV Work

Julie Park spoke to Bloomberg Law for an article that covers how medical companies have the green light to develop new coronavirus tests and vaccines without having to worry about lawsuits, building on lessons learned from abandoned HIV research in the 1990s.

According to Julie, the invocation of the PREP Act will “allow companies to get their drugs and treatments to market faster because government is agreeing to assume the costs of any risks associated with accelerated approval pathways.”
