Bloomberg Law profiled Roman Swoopes for its “They’ve Got Next” series, which spotlights young lawyers who are raising the bar in their practices.
“I feel very fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time, when the so-called smartphone wars cases were just starting,” said Roman, discussing his work representing Oracle in a landmark battle with Google over code in the Android operating system.
In his first year at Morrison & Foerster, Roman argued the meaning of a patent phrase and against Google’s bid for partial judgment on a copyright claim in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Both resulted in decisions favorable to Oracle.
