GC Agenda China
In the March edition of GC Agenda China, (subscription required), Morrison & Foerster partner Paul McKenzie commented on the new measures issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation on online transactions.
"The new measures should be viewed as only one part of a broader effort by Chinese regulators to better police online businesses. They build on the 2018 ECL and will likely serve as the basis for an aggressive enforcement campaign in the coming months, focused on privacy, product quality and competition issues. Online marketplaces are likely to be particular targets, but any company that conducts online sales in China is well advised to review its compliance practices," said Paul.
