19 Jan 2022

Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce that the Daily Journal has named partner Alex Iftimie to its list of Top Cyber Lawyers for 2022. The recognition, which honors leading California lawyers who specialize in cyber security and privacy law, highlights Alex’s outstanding professional track record.

Co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global Risk and Crisis Management group, Alex advises Fortune 500 and high-growth clients on all aspects of breach preparedness and response, including counseling executives on cybersecurity governance and risk management and responding to cyber incidents ranging from ransomware attacks to nation-state sponsored economic espionage.

He also advises clients on responding to law enforcement requests, supply chain risk management, the lawfulness of defensive network activities and threat intelligence research, and legal issues arising under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the Wiretap Act, the Stored Communication Act, and Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA).

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Alex held multiple senior positions at the DOJ, including Counselor to the Attorney General, Deputy Chief of Staff and Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for National Security, as well as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. He brought the Department’s charges against Russian disinformation efforts to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections, among other national security cyber matters.

In 2021, Global Data Review (GDR) recognized Alex in its 40 Under 40 list for 2021, which recognizes individuals under the age of 40 globally who represent the best of the upcoming generation of data lawyers. Alex received the Assistant Attorney General Award for Excellence in 2014 and 2018 and the Assistant Attorney General Award for Distinguished Service in 2014.

Profiles for all of the winning lawyers have been featured in a special issue published January 19, 2022.
