08 Mar 2012

CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta profiled Morrison & Foerster's pro bono work for U.S. military veterans subject to secret drug experiments as enlisted service members.

The research programs at issue, concentrated at the Army's facilities at the Edgewood Arsenal and Fort Detrick, Maryland, allegedly tested more than 400 different chemical and biological substances during five decades in locations throughout the U.S. and abroad, and involved an estimated 100,000 active duty military personnel.

Senior Counsel Gordon Erspamer, along with Vietnam Veterans of America and Swords to Plowshares, is representing eight individual disabled veterans in their battle to obtain medical care for injuries and illness believed to be a result of the drug experiments. In a motion filed in February in Oakland federal court, plaintiffs seek certification of an estimated class of 100,000 veterans and their survivors, and trial is set for early 2013.
