Michèle Corash Named American Lawyer Litigator of the Week

20 Mar 2015

On March 19, The American Lawyer recognized San Francisco partner Michèle Corash as its Litigator of the Week for a MoFo trial team’s significant appellate victory in a major Proposition 65 lawsuit which the team had won at trial.

California’s First District Court of Appeal affirmed the trial court ruling, won by the MoFo team, for 16 food manufacturers that defeated a lawsuit seeking cancer and birth defect warning labels for 100 percent fruit juices, packaged fruit, and baby foods that contain trace levels of lead. This case garnered widespread interest because it involved many legal questions of first impression and many fact patterns which are typical in Prop 65 litigation. As a result, the Court of Appeal’s ruling will have a broad effect on other Prop 65 cases, particularly those involving foods and other consumer products.

“It was very gratifying to me that it was a unanimous decision,” Michèle told The American Lawyer. “The opinion was clear, and it should have impact.”
