MoFo News Item

MoFo represented SoftBank in completing its acquisition of the remaining outstanding interests in Miami-based Brightstar Corp., the world's largest specialized wireless distributor. The deal follows MoFo’s representation of SoftBank in its initial $1.26 billion control investment in Brightstar (closed in January 2014), that gave SoftBank a 57 percent stake in the company.

Co-chair of MoFo’s Global Corporate Department Brandon Parris and co-chair of Morrison & Foerster's Global M+A Practice Rob Townsend led the deal for SoftBank, which included a cross-border, cross-department team of lawyers from San Francisco, Tokyo and Washington, D.C.

Concurrent with SoftBank’s acquisition of the remaining interest in Brightstar, MoFo compensation & benefits, M&A and regulatory teams negotiated Mr. Marcelo Claure’s appointment as President and CEO of Sprint Corporation and his separation from Brightstar.
