MoFo Again Named to NLJ Appellate Hot List

16 Nov 2015

For the second year in a row, the National Law Journal (NLJ) has named MoFo to its annual Appellate Hot List, its assessment of the top appellate practices in the United States. The Hot List recognizes the law firms with "outstanding achievements before the U.S. Supreme Court, federal circuit courts and state courts of last resort."

MoFo was selected based on its depth of practice. As co-chair Deanne Maynard noted, "we have cases in all the federal courts of appeals across the country in a wide variety of matters." The NLJ’s article also noted the arrival of Joe Palmore as co-chair of the group last year and the California appellate expertise of Miriam Vogel, a former Justice on the California Court of Appeal.”

The group’s highlights over the past year include: a win in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit's first ruling on the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act, a victory before an en banc panel of the Ninth Circuit striking down a California law granting artists royalties when their work is resold outside of California, and persuading the U.S. Supreme Court to allow marriages between same-sex couples to go forward in Idaho months before the Court’s historic marriage equality decision.
