MoFo won two awards as part of The American Lawyer’s 2016 Global Legal Awards.
We won the Global CSR Project of the Year Award for our continued support of the Tōhoku recovery efforts in Japan. Since 2011, the Tokyo office has partnered with local businesses to host food drives, raise donations, and organize educational workshops for children and families in areas of need.
In addition, our work representing Landsbanki in its emergence from an eight year restructuring was recognized as part of the Global Finance Deal of the Year: Private Restructuring Award. Landsbanki was one of the three Icelandic financial institutions to seek and receive recognition of its reorganization proceedings under chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code. Of greater significance, Morrison & Foerster advised LBI to apply the exemption from registration under Section 3(a)(10) of the Securities Act to an exchange offer in the context of Chapter 15 bankruptcy proceeding, which was a novel approach that received approval of the US Bankruptcy Court.
Now in its fourth year, the Global Legal Awards recognizes outstanding international legal work on corporate, financial, and litigation matters, as well as global citizenship.
Winners will be celebrated on September 26 at a ceremony at New York’s Gotham Hall, where four grand prize winners will also be announced.
