San Diego -- October 1, 2003 -- Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Craig A. Schloss has been named Managing Partner of its San Diego office. Mr. Schloss, an employment law partner, succeeds Mark W. Danis, who served as Managing Partner since October of 1999. Mr. Danis has assumed the role of Firmwide Managing Partner of Operations.

Mr. Schloss focuses on representation of management in all aspects of labor and employment law, including matters before state and federal courts and agencies, and preventive employment relations counseling. He has extensive experience practicing before the National Labor Relations Board regarding union representation matters and has litigated numerous wrongful termination, employee unfair competition, discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits. Mr. Schloss will maintain his active employment law practice while serving as Managing Partner of the firm's San Diego office.
Mr. Schloss was recently named Chair-Elect of the San Diego Symphony Board of Directors. He also serves on the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center Board of Directors.
Mr. Schloss graduated from the University of Arizona in 1977 with a degree in Economics and received his J.D. from the University of Illinois in 1980, where he participated in a joint degree program with the University's Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations. He began his legal career with the employment law specialty firm Jackson, Lewis, Schnitzler & Krupman in Los Angeles. Mr. Schloss joined Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps in San Diego in 1986, becoming a partner in 1988 and ultimately, Chair of that firm's Labor and Employment Law Department. He joined the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster LLP in May of 2000 and serves as the Chair of the office's Labor and Employment Department.
