04 Aug 2015

San Francisco (August 4, 2015) – Morrison & Foerster is pleased to announce that Murray Indick has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as a partner in the Corporate Department. With more than three decades of experience both in private practice and as general counsel to investment firms, he brings a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of corporate matters, including venture financings, fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private equity financings, corporate restructurings, and corporate governance.

Mr. Indick will become co-chair of the firm’s Global Emerging Companies and Venture Capital Practice Group, solidifying Morrison & Foerster’s place as a leading adviser to both emerging and established companies across a broad range of industries, as well as to the venture capital firms and private equity funds that fund these companies. He also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to advising investment funds on their formation and on transactional and ongoing counseling matters, frequently as outside general counsel.

Larren M. Nashelsky, chair of Morrison & Foerster, noted: “Our firm has consistently aimed to partner with businesses of all sizes, and we are thrilled to have Murray join us and grow our relationships with early-stage companies. We remain nimble and flexible in delivering first-class counsel to our clients and will continue to adapt as the emerging company landscape evolves.”

“At a time when the emerging company ecosystem is significantly expanding in San Francisco and investment activity is at its highest point in years, Murray is a welcome addition to our talented team of corporate lawyers,” added Brandon Parris, co-chair of the firm’s Global Corporate Department.

Morrison & Foerster is widely recognized for its preeminence in the representation of technology, life sciences, and cleantech companies in the United States, Asia, and Europe. The firm advises clients at every stage of their evolution, from initial formations and venture capital financings, through sales, initial public offerings, and life as an established public or privately owned company.

Mr. Indick commented: “The vision for a startup practice has changed significantly in the past five years. As I surveyed the landscape, MoFo was the obvious choice. Emerging companies require a wide range of legal services, including practical commercial advice to support anticipated hyper-growth. Planning for the eventual exit means that companies will need world-class capital markets and M&A teams, with industry expertise, and MoFo has extraordinary capabilities. Although the Bay area is still one of the leading areas for start-ups, there are robust ecosytems now around the world where MoFo lawyers are excited to advise companies.”

Mr. Indick joins the firm from Crowell & Moring, where he led the firm’s startup and investment funds practice. Prior to that, he served as partner in and general counsel to Blum Capital Partners and as partner in and general counsel to Prides Capital Partners. He received his law degree magna cum laude in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree in 1981 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied history and English and graduated magna cum laude. Following law school, Mr. Indick clerked for Judge Walter E. Black, Jr., in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore, Maryland.
