Jane Barrett joins Los Angeles office along with colleague Angela Dotson; both bring extensive big-case experience; Ms. Barrett was first woman member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association
Los Angeles, May 2, 2006– Morrison & Foerster announced that prominent trial lawyer Jane H. Barrett has joined the firm along with Angela E. Dotson. Ms. Barrett and Ms. Dotson join as partners in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Ms. Barrett has more than 25 years’ experience handling significant cases for Fortune 100 companies. She is a well-known litigator in a number of fields, including intellectual property and complex business disputes. Ms. Dotson, who has worked alongside Ms. Barrett for the last four years, has handled a broad range of commercial matters.
Ms. Barrett and Ms. Dotson join Morrison & Foerster from the Los Angeles office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, where they were partners.

Ms. Barrett has experience arguing cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States. "I have long admired Morrison & Foerster, and I look forward to being a part of its premier litigation practice," she said.
Ms. Barrett is active in state and national bar associations. She was the first woman to be elected to the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA) and was member of the ABA Commission for Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession as well as its Federal Judiciary Committee. She is a past president of the American Bar Endowment and is currently on the Loyola Board of Regents and serves on the United States District Court disciplinary committee. Ms. Barrett is listed in Best Lawyers in America as a leading lawyer in commercial litigation. She received her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center in 1972.
Ms. Dotson has a commercial litigation practice representing Fortune 500 companies before state and federal courts at all levels, including on appeal and at trial. She also has experience handling matters through alternative dispute resolution, including mediations and arbitrations. Ms. Dotson received her J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law in 1995.
