Morrison & Foerster LLP Names Mark Mandel And Allen Weingarten Partners In New York Corporate Finance Group

New York -- March 3, 1998 -- Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Mark Lewis Mandel and Allen L. Weingarten, formerly with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, have joined the firm as partners. Messrs. Mandel and Weingarten will practice in the firm's Corporate Finance Group and will be resident in the New York Office.

Mr. Weingarten has a broad corporate and securities practice including the representation of underwriters and issuers in public offerings; institutional private placements; consensual restructuring of public debt securities; venture capital; joint ventures; mergers and acquisitions; leveraged buyouts and partnership formations. Mr. Weingarten joined Skadden, Arps as an associate upon graduation from law school in 1979. Most recently, he was Special Counsel to the Corporate Department at Skadden, Arps. Mr. Weingarten received his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1979.           

Mr. Mandel has a diverse corporate practice including a broad range of domestic and international transactions. He has represented both buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions including leveraged buyouts, employee buyouts, public offerings, private placements of securities, and venture capital financing. Prior to joining Skadden, Arps in 1993, Mr. Mandel worked in the Office of the General Counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission and was an articling associate at Davies, Ward & Beck in Toronto. Mr. Mandel received his LL.M. degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1990 and an LL.B., with honors, from the University of Toronto Law School in 1988.
