TOKYO, October 9, 2007 – Morrison & Foerster, Japan’s largest international law firm, announced today that it has moved to the 28th and 29th floors of Tokyo’s prestigious Shin-Marunouchi Building to accommodate its rapid growth in Japan. The move also marks a historical benchmark for the firm, which celebrates twenty years in Japan this year. Morrison & Foerster was previously located in the nearby AIG Building.
Morrison & Foerster in conjunction with Registered Associated Office Ito & Mitomi, has more than 100 US and Japanese attorneys in Japan, making it not only the largest Tokyo office of any global firm, but also one of the 10 largest law firms, foreign or domestic, in Japan. Morrison & Foerster was one of the first international law firms to be licensed in Japan, opening its Tokyo office in 1987. With 20 years of experience in Japan, the firm handles a full range of transactional and litigation matters for both international and Japanese clients.
Ken Siegel, Managing Partner of the firm’s Tokyo office, said “As Japan has emerged from the long recession of the 1990’s, our Tokyo office has grown substantially – having more than tripled in size in the past five years. We are thrilled to move to new space that is more appropriate for our current size and anticipated continuing growth.”
Fuyuo Mitomi, the head of Ito & Mitomi, Registered Associated Offices of Morrison & Foerster, Tokyo, said “This is a significant sign of our growth and success in Japan.”
