Steven Ruskin Joins NY Tax Practice


Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Steven A. Ruskin has joined the firm as a partner in its Tax Department. Mr. Ruskin, who joins Morrison from the Dallas-based firm of Winstead, Sechrest & Minick, will practice in the firm’s New York office.

Mr. Ruskin’s broad-based practice encompasses the full scope of federal, state and local tax matters, including corporate acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations, financings, audits, and the formation and operation of partnerships, joint ventures, and tax-exempt entities. He has significant experience in tax issues involving mergers and acquisitions, including transactions involving real estate investment trusts. He also has considerable experience representing issuers and underwriters on a variety of equity and debt offerings, including IPOs.

Mr. Ruskin is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School where he received his J.D. degree in 1968. He received an LL.M. (in Taxation) from New York University in 1973. Mr. Ruskin became a partner in the New York office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in 1977. He left Cadwalader in 1995 to form the Law Office of Steven A. Ruskin. In 1997, he joined the Dallas, Texas office of Winstead Sechrest & Minick where he was a senior tax partner.
