“Doing Business in Asia: Japan Revitalization and Regional Business Trends” was the theme for the third Women in Business seminar, held in Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo office on June 23. Approximately 80 women leaders participated in the program, which examined some of the legal and economic developments, trends, and challenges in the Asia-Pacific region that are driving global business.

Topics included:

  • Womenomics, or the steps necessary for Japan to close the gender gap in employment and encourage economic growth
  • Abenomics, or the challenges and opportunities of the economic policies of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe
  • Recent developments in Japan regarding FRAND licensing obligations
  • M&A trends in Asia

As part of the program, attendees were invited to respond to a survey about the business outlook in Japan and Asia.

Women in Business is an ongoing seminar series where women leaders can discuss substantive and current topics, which are not necessarily gender specific but of importance to the larger business community in Japan.
