Anna Faber, a former attorney at the U.S. Department of Commerce, is an associate in the Investigations + White Collar Defense Group in Morrison Foerster’s Washington, D.C. office.
Anna leverages her experience in the private sector, the federal executive branch, and legal nonprofits to advise clients on complex legal, political, and reputational challenges, often in the context of internal and government-facing investigations, as well as congressional inquiries and hearings. She also has experience advising clients on contractual disputes, anti-corruption matters, consumer protection issues, and state attorneys general enforcement.
Anna most recently served as counsel to the general counsel at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, Anna provided legal and strategic advice to senior officials on matters related to international trade and finance, export controls, semiconductor investments, labor and workforce, and civil rights. Anna also led responses to congressional investigations, prepared senior officials for hearings, and was the main attorney responding to oversight of the Bureau of Industry and Security and anti-discrimination-related matters.
Prior to serving at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Anna was a litigation associate at a global law firm, where she represented clients in a broad range of commercial litigation and white collar matters. Of particular note, she worked on a significant multidistrict contract dispute and an investigation by multiple state attorneys general offices. Additionally, Anna maintained an active pro bono practice, including contributing to a U.S. Supreme Court amicus curiae brief on gun violence prevention.
Anna received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a student attorney at the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection and the Civil Rights Clinic and served as an editor for the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law.
During law school, Anna was a legal intern in the Office of the New York State Attorney General’s Labor Bureau, and at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where she worked on the Voting Rights Project.
Anna received her B.A. from Macalester College in international studies.
