Sara Stearns is an associate in the Complex Litigation + Advisement Group of Morrison Foerster’s Los Angeles office.

Sara Stearns has substantial experience in complex commercial disputes, data privacy litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory compliance. She has represented technology companies and other corporate clients in litigation and investigations, including matters involving data privacy, anti-corruption laws, and compliance issues.

Sara also brings federal court experience, having served as a law clerk to both a U.S. District Judge and a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Central District of California. In those roles, she has worked on a broad range of matters in both civil and criminal cases, including dispositive motions, motions for preliminary relief, discovery disputes, trials, and procedural and case management issues.

Earlier in her career, Sara practiced in Morrison Foerster’s Tokyo office, where her work included litigation, internal anti-corruption and compliance investigations, and advice to clients on risks under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and local anti-corruption laws throughout the Asia-Pacific region. She also completed a secondment with Amazon Japan’s Business Conduct & Ethics division. Sara has been recognized for her commitment to pro bono service, receiving Morrison Foerster’s 2020 Pro Bono Star award and Casa Cornelia’s 2021 La Mancha Award.
