As part of the American Bar Association's Banking Law Committee's Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., Crystal Kaldjob spoke on the panel "What's Around the Corner: Innovating the Innovations."
Financial technology, or fintech, is a pervasive term that can be applied to nearly every product and company. Some of these innovations and innovators are truly new solutions to significant problems. Other are solutions in search of a problem, or solutions that have received a branding makeover. This can make it difficult for banking organizations to leverage fintech in their operations, consumers to know which fintech product they should use, and regulators to know who is doing what. This panel explored current regulatory concerns with fintech offerings and how the industry may respond in the future.
