<p>Brian R. Michael is a partner in Morrison Foerster’s Investigations + White Collar Defense Group, and the chair of the firm’s Global Ethics + Compliance practice.</p><p>Recognized as one of the top lawyers in California, Brian draws upon more than 25 years of high-profile experience in private practice, as an in-house leader, and as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York and the Central District of California to represent entities and individuals who turn to him for the most complex, high-stakes white collar criminal cases, internal and government-facing investigations, securities and regulatory enforcement matters, and related litigation and trials. Brian routinely advises clients on a wide range of matters involving corporate and securities fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and global anti-corruption laws, workplace misconduct, public corruption, cybersecurity, FinTech and blockchain technologies, trade sanctions, whistleblowing, and human rights and supply chain due diligence, among other areas.</p><p>Brian’s practice also focuses on providing sensitive crisis management and compliance counseling, and he has extensive experience leading the design, enhancement, and implementation of cross-border compliance programs. He regularly leads global risk assessments and provides compliance and crisis preparedness training to companies, boards, and employees.</p><p>In addition to his many years in private practice, Brian served as Deputy General Counsel and Group Chief Compliance Officer at media and entertainment company 21st Century Fox, and as an Assistant United States Attorney in both the Southern District of New York and the Central District of California. At 21st Century Fox, Brian played a critical role in the company’s response to multiple cross-border investigations, including the “UK phone hacking” crisis and the wide-ranging FIFA corruption matter, and oversaw global compliance for Fox broadcast, cable, digital, and sports media businesses, including National Geographic Partners and more than 300 channels in over 180 countries. As a federal prosecutor, Brian tried numerous cases and briefed and argued multiple appeals, as well as led criminal investigations and prosecutions involving complex financial, securities, and healthcare fraud, cybercrime, organized crime and racketeering, money laundering, violent crime, child sexual exploitation, and asset forfeiture, for which he received many commendations and awards. Brian also served as the Violence Against Women Act Coordinator and the Anti-Gang Coordinator for the Central District of California.</p><p>After graduating law school, Brian clerked for former Chief Judge Gilbert S. Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.</p><p>Brian is a frequent public speaker and commentator on investigations, white collar crime, securities and regulatory enforcement, and compliance topics. <p>Christin Hill is a partner in Morrison Foerster’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm's Securities Litigation group. Christin has extensive experience representing clients in securities class actions, derivative actions and other complex civil litigation in both federal and state courts, as well as in government and internal investigations.</p><p>With over a decade of experience in private practice, Christin has successfully represented public companies and their boards of directors and officers in securities fraud actions, derivative actions, SEC enforcement actions, internal investigations, and general corporate counseling. She also has experience working with pre-IPO companies in complex civil litigation in both federal and state court, internal investigations, responding to government inquiries, and advising on general compliance matters.</p><p>Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Christin served as senior counsel at Uber Technologies, Inc., where she managed complex civil litigation including consumer class actions, intellectual property matters, and government investigations. She was also a lead member of Uber’s global compliance team, through which she created and implemented new compliance policies and training programs and advised company management in responding to government inquiries.</p><p>Christin also served as an assistant district attorney in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where she successfully prosecuted three misdemeanor criminal jury trials. Early in her career, she served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable John A. Houston in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.</p>

Christin Hill

<p>Haima Marlier is a partner in Morrison Foerster’s Investigations + White Collar Defense Group and co-chairs both its Fintech and Securities Enforcement practices. Drawing on her experience as a former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) senior trial counsel, Haima represents public and private companies, financial services providers, and executives, directors, and other individuals in SEC, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), state securities regulator, and internal investigations, as well as in related litigation. She has more than 20 years of experience litigating in federal, state, and administrative courts, leading complex negotiations, and representing her clients in mediation. She also counsels clients regarding securities enforcement developments, trends, and risk mitigation.</p><p>Before joining the firm, Haima spent nearly a decade in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement. While at the SEC, Haima served as lead counsel on a number of prominent enforcement litigations and investigations involving public companies, registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, banks, and individuals in matters arising under the federal securities laws. She has also worked closely with foreign securities regulators, numerous U.S. attorneys’ offices, and FINRA.</p><p>Haima is a member of <em>Law360</em>’s Securities Editorial Board, serves on the advisory board of Securities Docket, and is on the Board of Trustees of the SEC Historical Society. She mentors Penn State students of color who aspire to become lawyers and is a member of the board of directors of, and a volunteer running coach for, Girls on the Run New Jersey, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring girls to recognize their inner physical and emotional strengths.
