MoFounders Panel Event: ‘The Disruptors’

We are delighted to invite you to our next MoFounders event, “The Disruptors”, held on Wednesday 13 November at our office in The Scalpel from 6pm onwards.

The event will explore what it takes to turn an established business or industry on its head and disrupt the status quo, and the extraordinary opportunities and challenges this can bring.

Joining us on the panel, we’re thrilled to welcome three experienced entrepreneurs who have disrupted various industries and businesses in different ways:

• Simon Morris – Simon co-founded LOVEFiLM, the postal film service that changed the film rental market, which was then bought by Amazon creating the foundation of Amazon Prime. Simon was also previously marketing director at Sega Europe, responsible for making made Sonic the Hedgehog a household name. Most recently, Simon served as the first Chief Creative Officer at Amazon.

• Kate Miller is the Chief Communications Officer at England & Wales Cricket Board. She is disrupting the world of women’s cricket and is an advocate for bringing cricket to a more diverse and inclusive audience. Kate helped to launch ‘The Hundred’, a 100-ball cricket tournament where 8 city-based teams compete, with the prize money the same for both the men and women’s winner.

• Ketan Makwana – In addition to scaling and selling multiple ventures, Ketan has served as a Special Advisor to David Cameron when he was Prime Minister. In 2021, Ketan launched Seventy7 Ventures a company that is on the mission to accelerate the digital and technology capabilities of the creative industries. Most recently, he has set his sights on buying a football club, with a view to disrupting the business of football.

The event will be co-hosted by Intellectual Property partner at Morrison Foerster, Steven James, and Charlotte Jones, Director of Programmes at Optimist Performance and formerly General Manager of Women and Girl’s Rugby at the Welsh Rugby Union.
