Morrison Foerster partner Avy Mallik will serve as a panelist at Practising Law Institute’s Consumer Financial Services Fundamentals 2026 program, taking place March 12–13 in person at PLI’s state-of-the-art New York City Conference Center and via live webcast. The annual program provides a comprehensive overview of the complex federal and state regulatory frameworks governing the consumer financial services industry, featuring leading practitioners from government, industry, and consumer advocacy.
Avy will speak on the panel, “Beyond Traditional Credit: Exploring Alternative Consumer Financial Products,” alongside three co-presenters. The session will examine several of the fastest-growing products in the alternative lending landscape, including Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), Earned Wage Access (EWA), point-of-sale financing, and home-equity investment products and the evolving regulatory regimes, market dynamics, and consumer-protection considerations shaping their development.
Panel attendees will gain the ability to distinguish alternative financial products from traditional credit offerings, analyze the legal and compliance requirements applicable to these products, understand current public and private enforcement activity, and assess the risks and benefits for providers and consumers. The panel is scheduled for March 12 from 2:50pm to 3:50pm ET.
